(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with impaired driving on January 16, 2016 at 1:14 am. 

During routine patrol, officers stopped a 2006 Pick-up truck on 800 Block of Kings Highway 11 in Fort Frances after observing a male driving erratically. The driver, 32 year old Emmery McGINNIS of Edmonton, Alberta was arrested at the scene and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Subsequently the driver was charged with,

-Having Over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

-Driving while Ability was Impaired

-Driving without Insurance

 The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and he was issued a mandatory 90 day drivers licence suspension.  He is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Court on February 16, 2016. 

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.  If you are planning to consume alcohol then plan to have a sober person drive you home.  The public may report an impaired driver by calling the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
