COLLISION RESULTS IN IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE
(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Sunday, January 3, 2016 at approximately 1:45 am, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 east of Kakabeka Falls in the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge.
When officers arrived at the scene of the collision, there were no occupants with the vehicle.
Shortly after arriving at the scene, Officers received a 911 call advising of two people at a nearby residence attempting to get the attention of the home owners. Officers attended and located a male and a female who appeared to be evading police.
Further investigation revealed that the male and female had both consumed alcohol and had been involved in the collision. There were no injuries reported
As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey KNUDSEN, 36 years of age, from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with:
-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle,
-Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol,
-Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Mr. Knudsen was held in custody for a video court appearance.
Lisa JOYNSON, 41 years of age, from Conmee Township was arrested and charged with Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to Criminal Code.
She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on February 16, 2016 to answer to the charge.
