IGNACE OPP ARREST FLEEING DRIVER
(IGNACE, ON) – On Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at approximately 11:04 am, Ignace members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Highway 17, Dewan Township which is approximately 15 km East of Ignace.
The vehicle fled west bound towards Dryden and would not stop for Police. With the assistance of Dryden OPP, Dryden Police Service and Treaty 3 Police Service, one male was apprehended after his vehicle left the roadway in Wabigoon. The male, who was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, was uninjured.
The driver, John BERRY (29 years old) of Kitchener, Ontario was arrested and charged with Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle X 2 contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Flight while pursued by a Peace Officer contrary to Section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.00 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code and Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code.
BERRY was held in custody and will appear in Dryden court on March 2, 2017 to answer to the charges.
