(MANITOUWADGE,ON)- A 39 year-old male has been charged with Impaired Driving after being stopped by an officer from the Manitouwadge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the Township of Manitouwadge.
On August 20, 2016 at approximately 2:30am, the officer observed a Chevrolet Silverado truck being operated in an erratic manner on Manitou Road.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking to the driver, determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.
Derek SCHOFIELD, of Campbell River BC, was arrested and charged with:
-Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
-Operate a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
His license has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
He will appear in court in the Ontario Court of Justice in the Township of Manitouwadge on November 23, 2016 to answer to the charges.
