(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a 15 year old female in relation to a rescue incident from the afternoon of March 19, 2016.
At approximately 5:00pm, police were dispatched to an intoxicated person who was on the northern ridge of Sioux Mountain. When officers located the subject, it was determined that it was too dangerous to safely navigate her down the narrow and icy trail due to her level of intoxication. The Sioux Lookout Fire Department and Sioux Lookout Ambulance were called to assist.
The Canadian National (CN) rail line had to be temporarily shut down while rescue efforts commenced. During the rescue, the subject became uncooperative, and proceeded to kick one of the police officers who were trying to help her off the mountain.
The female was eventually brought down safely where she then came into police custody. However, she continued to be combative with officers and attempted to bite one of them while being placed in detachment cells.
The 15 year old female from Slate Falls, Ontario, faces one charge of assault police contrary to the criminal code. She was later released from custody with a court date of April 12, 2016.
Her name cannot be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
