(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) On Saturday June 11th, 2016, the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a joint patrol with Conservation Officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF).

While checking boats of those participating in the Sioux Lookout walleye fishing tournament, officers discovered that an angler was in possession of a fish that had been noticeably altered.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the angler had cut the tails of the fish to shorten the overall length, in an attempt to possess it as a legal-sized fish.

A 23 year old Sioux Lookout resident has been charged with possessing a fish of prohibited size under a sport fishing licence, contrary to the Ontario Fishing Regulations.

The accused was later issued a summons to appear in Sioux Lookout court on September 15, 2016.
