(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On the morning of Tuesday, March 7, 2017, officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance at a residence in the Lakeview Trailer Park. When they arrived, they located two deceased persons in the residence. Their identities are not being released at this time, pending positive identification and next of kin notification.


Members of the Rainy River District OPP Detachment along with the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit from Kenora, continue to investigate this incident under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Heida of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).


Late this afternoon, members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) arrested one male in relation to this ongoing investigation and criminal charges are pending.


The OPP would like to thank the residents of the Lakeview Trailer Park for their cooperation while this investigation continued throughout the day and want to advise the residents that they may now return to their homes.
